With the implementation of the new 2020-2023 Strategic Plan, Blind Sport New Zealand (BSNZ) wants to ensure that the funding we distribute to our members reflects our new strategic priorities. Therefore, from 1st July 2020, BSNZ will no longer be accepting applications for the Project and Performance Fund and instead encourage members to apply for the newly established BSNZ Development Fund.
Applications for the Development Fund are considered by the BSNZ Funding Committee quarterly and is open to BSNZ affiliate groups and athletes. Applications must demonstrate that they align with at least one of BSNZ’s funding priorities which are ‘grow, retain and support participation in blind and low vision sport and active recreation’ and ‘increase the awareness and profile of blind and low vision sport and active recreation in New Zealand’. Applications are also encouraged to demonstrate clear partnerships & collaboration with other organisations, sustainable sport opportunities that encourages ongoing participation and projects that engage individuals who are blind or have low vision who are currently inactive. The application process has been designed to be easy to complete while still capturing the information the Funding Committee need to make an informed decision.
BSNZ hopes that members take this opportunity to help grow and develop sport and active recreation opportunities available to the blind, deafblind and low vision community. Education & Programmes Manager Casey Flint said “It’s an exciting opportunity for BSNZ to support a wide range of projects, programmes and events throughout New Zealand! I’m looking forward to supporting these groups and individuals so that more vision impaired Kiwis can participate and compete in more sport and active recreation than ever before”.
Applications for the next quarter are now open and close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday 1st September 2020. For more information, including funding criteria, frequently asked questions and application forms, please follow this link: BSNZ Development Fund
