About Us

Blind Sport New Zealand Incorporated is New Zealand’s National Disability Sport Organisation for blind, deafblind and low vision sport and physical recreation. We are charged with leading sport and recreation opportunity and driving participation in blind and low vision sport throughout New Zealand.

What does Blind Sport NZ do?

  • Supports individuals with a vision impairment across Aotearoa to get active. Blind Sport New Zealand works with:

    • All ages

    • All levels of activity (participation and competitive)

    • All vision impairments, including individuals with additional needs

    • All sports and active recreation

  • Upskills coaches, sport organisations and schools on how to ensure their sport is inclusive

  • Advocates for inclusive opportunities in all areas of sport

  • Supports the sport community and Blind Sport New Zealand members with programmes and events

  • Runs youth programmes and events


How can Blind Sport NZ support you?

  • Connect you with local sport opportunities

  • Support your local sport club or coach to better assist you or your child

  • Support your child’s teachers on how to make physical education and sport inclusive

  • Find volunteers to support you or your child, for example, a tandem bike pilot or running guide

  • Provide tips, tools, and advice on how to adapt sport or activities
