Goalball New Zealand takes the South Island

Goalball New Zealand is taking over the South Island this weekend with some fun sessions in Dunedin and Christchurch to introduce you to this exciting, fast-paced sport. During the session, you'll be taken through a range of warm-ups and drills, and will then get to put your new skills into practice with some game time.

The only sport designed specifically for individuals with a vision impairment, goalball is a fast-moving, physical sport that can be played by those with and without a vision impairment. Goalball is played by two teams of three players each, on an indoor court, which is divided into two halves by a centre line. Teams remain on their own half of the court, and the purpose of the game is for each team to throw the ball by hand, along the floor, to get the ball across the opponent’s goal line, while the other team attempts to prevent this from happening. There are bells inside the ball, so that players can hear it as it moves.

Try goalball out for yourself this weekend, at the free GNZ Intro/Training Days.
