Due to the ongoing impacts of Covid-19, Blind Sport New Zealand has made the decision to cancel the 2020 BSNZ Sport Awards that were set to be held in Auckland later this year. With the cancellation and postponement of a wide range of sporting events including the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, the BSNZ Board decided that this was the best option for the event.

The 2020 Sport Awards was set to be the third year that the blind and low vision sport community has come together to celebrate the achievements within our community. While the whole team at BSNZ are disappointed that the event will not be going ahead, they are looking forward to creating a bigger and better event in 2021!

The 2021 BSNZ Sport Awards will take place in Auckland the second half of 2021 with exact details to be confirmed next year. Nominations can include achievements within the past two years and will open in mid 2021. Award categories include Sportswoman of the Year, Sportsman of the Year, Team of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Leadership Award, Emerging Talent Award and Coach of the Year.
