Athlete Spotlight: Sam Manson

Under the spotlight this month, we have vision impaired athlete Sam Manson. For the past four years, 13 year old Sam has been involved in a huge variety of sports, and has enjoyed participating in the Halberg Games. 

Which sports are you involved in?
Mountain biking, track cycling, swimming, athletics, triathlon and scootering. Any sport that is available!

How did you first get involved in these sports?
Through my love of all things sport, and the opportunities provided by Parafed. The opportunities available led to my involvement in the Halberg Games.

What has been your greatest sporting achievement so far?
Participating in the Halberg Games. 

What is your favourite sporting memory?
Doing the big mountain bike jumps at the Christchurch Adventure Park, and skiing with Blind Sport NZ at Mt Hutt. 

What is your favorite thing about participating in sport?
A sense of achievement and learning new techniques.
