Auckland Youth Programme Cycling Session

For the final event in our 2021 Auckland Youth Programme series, we visited one of the city’s cycle paths for a fun morning of cycling. With over 50 people joining us, including vision impaired participants, their families and volunteers, this was our biggest event yet.

Led by Outdoor Experience, participants joined us from across Auckland, and we even had an athlete travel down from Northland to join the fun. Participants gathered at Mt Wellington War Memorial Park to learn some basic cycling skills, before heading out on tandem and standard bikes for a group ride. The group rode to Point England and back, a total of 7kms. After completing the ride and battling the slightly windy conditions, everyone enjoyed a well-earned barbecue lunch together.

The session was a fantastic way to wrap up our 2021 Auckland Youth Programme series. After such a successful session, we hope to do another one soon!

A big thank you to Blind Low Vision NZ who supplied the tandem bikes, as well as Outdoor Experience, Parafed Auckland, and our amazing volunteers for making the event possible!
