How do I book the Accessible Sport Kit?

The kits can be booked online through the BSNZ website here: https://www.blindsport.kiwi/accessible-sport-kit 

You will then receive a booking confirmation via email to confirm pick up/drop off day, time & location.

How long can I book the Accessible Sport Kit for?

Bookings will generally be 1-2 weeks but can be made shorter or longer depending on your requirements & other bookings.

Can I extend my booking?

This will depend on any other scheduled bookings. Please contact Blind Sport New Zealand to check the booking calendar for the Accessible Sport Kit in your area.

Where do I collect/return the Accessible Sport Kit?

The Accessible Sport Kits are collected & returned to one of the 18 Blind Low Vision NZ regional offices throughout New Zealand. Offices are located in the following cities/towns; Whangarei, Auckland (Albany, Henderson, Parnell, Manurewa), Hamilton, Tauranga, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Napier, Whanganui, Palmerston North, Kapiti Coast, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin & Invercargill. When do I collect/return the Accessible Sport Kit?

The Accessible Sport Kits can be collected & returned during the office hours of each regional Blind Low Vision NZ office. Please note that these aren’t all standard 9-5 Monday-Friday hours. Offices hours will be included in your booking confirmation email or you can find them here: https://blindlowvision.org.nz/contact/locations/ 

What is included in the Accessible Sport Kit?

The kit includes equipment to play 6 team sports and a wide range of games & activities. This includes: goalballs (senior & junior), audible balls (football, basketball, rugby, tennis, cricket & miscellaneous), cricket bats & wickets, tennis racquets, blackout shades, running tethers, knee pads, whistle, ball pump, markers & a first aid kit. All equipment is stored in a large wheelie bag.

Where can I buy the equipment included in the Accessible Sport Kit?

We are currently working alongside Blind Low Vision NZ to make this equipment available through their online store. Until then, the equipment in the kits was purchased from the following suppliers:

How much does it cost to borrow the Accessible Sport Kit?

The Accessible Sport Kit is free to borrow. If you or your school/club have the ability to offer a small donation to Blind Sport New Zealand we would greatly accept. Any donations will go directly towards the ongoing management & development of these kits. Donations can be made at: https://www.blindsport.kiwi/support 

What happens if I lose/damage the equipment?

Please let a BLVNZ staff member know when returning the Accessible Sport Kit if any of the equipment is damaged or missing. You may be required to cover any costs to replace any damaged/lost equipment.

We are learning about adapted/disability sport but there is no one with a vision impairment in our class. Can we still borrow the Accessible Sport Kit?

Yes! The Accessible Sport Kit is designed to be used by a wide range of individuals & groups including those wanting to learn more about adapted sport.
