Sailing
Sailing has proven to be a fantastic sport and recreational activity for blind and vision impaired persons.
Blind and visually impaired sailors have enjoyed sailing in a variety of ways and the opportunities for low vision people is growing. Blind Sailing New Zealand members are involved in their local clubs and take part in fun sails as well as competitive sailing. Current Blind Sailing New Zealand members attend regional and national events held throughout the year in various locations. For those who wish to pursue elite racing opportunities there are international events which New Zealand blind and visually impaired sailors have competed in for over 20 years with great success.
